Dr. Abul Bashar Mir Md Khademul Islam, Associate Professor, Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Dhaka, has been selected as The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Young Affiliateship-2017 from the Central and South Asian Region for next 5 years, till 2021.
TWAS – The World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries – works to support sustainable prosperity through research, education, policy and diplomacy. Every year, TWAS’s five regional offices select scientists younger than 40 as Young Affiliates. The honour is given to developing-nation researchers with at least 10 international publications who show potential for a high-impact career. During their five-year tenure, Young Affiliates build networks with other affiliates and with elected TWAS Fellows and attend international conferences such as the TWAS General Meeting.
Dr. Islam – a brilliant, young, energetic and dedicated scientist working in the field of Medical Biotechnology. His main interest is epigenetic/genetic mechanisms of cancers & arthritis, drug discovery and vaccine design. He has authored about sixty papers with total impact factor over 350, having more than 1100 citations.
