Dhaka April9, 2018. The Annual Plant Tissue Culture & Biotechnology onference, 2017. has concluded with acive participation of scientists, academicians, graduate research students and policy makers from all over the country. This conference was held on the 6th and 7th April, 2018 in the premises of Bangladesh Sugarcrop Research Institute (BSRI), Ishurdi, Pabna and was jointly organized by Bangladesh Association for Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology (BAPTC&B) and Bangladesh Sugarcrop Research Institute (BSRI). The Chairman of the organizing committee was Prof. Dr. Rakha Hari Sarker, President, BAPTC&B. The Chief patron of the Conference was Dr. Md. Amzad Hossain, the Director General, BSRI, The Organizing Secretary was Prof. Dr. Mihir Lal Saha, the Botany department, DU and the local organizing secretary was Dr. Kuasha Mahmud, Head, Biotechnology Division, BSRI. The first day scientific program consisted of three oral sessions covering plant genetic transformation, in vitro morphogenesis of economically important plants, Marker Assisted Breeding and Microbial Biotechnology and an interesting poster session.
The scientific program was followed by the Annual General Meeting of BAPTC&B. On the second day of the conference, a training workshop on Biosafety regulatory system and network was organized. [Communicated by Dr. Sabrina Elias at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, DU.]
