Congratulations to Dr. Zeba Seraj for being selected as BAS fellow

GNOBB is proud to announce that Professor Zeba I. Seraj of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Dhaka University, and current president of GNOBB has been elected as a fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences. This is one of the highest achievements for a scientist in Bangladesh. Prof. Seraj has played an instrumental role in developing abiotic stress tolerant rice varieties in Bangladesh. She has published many articles in well reputed international journals. Her success came from a relentless focus on science over last 20 years. Prof, Seraj is also an advocate of science outreach and devotes her time to write science in easy language for the school kids. She is the 5th woman Scientist/doctor to be elected as BAS fellow. These selections also support the empowerment of women, which Bangladesh requires gravely to encourage the women in Science. GNOBB family congratulates her for this achievement. In addition to Professor Seraj, Professor Chowdhury Rafiqul Ahsan of the Department of Microbiology, Dhaka University, has also been elected as a BAS fellow this year. The third person to be elected is Dr. Saleh Hasan Naqib, Department of Physics, Rajshahil University. GNOBB also congratulates, Professor Ahsan and Hasan for their eminence leading to their selection as BAS fellows
