3rd Congress of YoungBB held with grand Success in SUST

The third congress of Young Bangladeshi Biotechnologists (YoungBB) was held on Friday, the 23rd March, 2012 at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet. The theme of the Congress was, “Business Career and option”. The event was hosted by the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Department of the University along with YounggBB organizers. The spontaneous participation of young Biotechnologists from all over the country deserves our heartiest admiration. The inaugural ceremony started with the welcome speech by the convener of the 3rd Congress, Abdul Mohin Sajib followed by the introductory speech by the YBB convener, Mustak Ibn Aiyub, The Chief Guest was Mr. Dilip Barua, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Industries. The Vice Chancellor of SUST Prof. Dr. Md. Saleh Uddin graced the occasion as the special guest . Also present in the inaugural function were Dr. Md. Elias Uddin Biswas -Treasurer SUST, Chief patron Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Mr. Minhaz Anwar from Better Stories Ltd, youngBB adviser Dr. Haseena Khan and Dr. Zeba Islam Seraj from BMB, DU.
In the plenary session a live video lecture and conversation with Dr. Nazneen Aziz , Director of Molecular Medicine in college of American Pathologists was arranged. Among the other speakers of this session were Dr. Iqbal Hasan from Incepta Pharma, Dr. Ruhul Kuddus from Utah Valley University and Dr. Ashraf Ali Biswas from Chittagong Veterinary & Animal Science University. In the scientific sessions and poster sessions students and young researchers from all over the country presented their papers. Besides there were Business Biotech Sessions, interactive sessions, followed by a very delightful cultural program and an enjoyable dinner. Another notable feature of the Congress was that it rewarded the veteran scientist, Dr. A. S. Islam, Retired Professor of DU and the Moderator of the Global Network of Bangladeshi Biotechnologists with a beautiful brass plaque. On behalf of the recipient, Prof. Zeba Seraj received the memento from the Minister. The third congress of the young Bangladeshi Biotechnologists was well organized. It was dynamic and a successful one. GNOBB appreciates their initiatives much and wish them a good luck for implementations of all their resolutions.
