Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) has released four Bt -brinjal varieties for limited scale cultivation in Bangladesh.  These are Bt-brinjal 1, -2, -3, and -4. Initially the saplings of these four varieties were given to the 20 farmers from different parts of the country for cultivation. The adoptive trial for these bt- brinjal varieties has been expanded this year. BARI authority has been given seeds of these varieties among 108 farmers for cultivation. The performance of these varieties has been reported to be encouraging so far.
