Dhaka the 20th Dec. 2013. A researcher in the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Florida, Gainesville has unraveled the genome of a new strain of Citrus Greening discovered in Brazil. Since there has not hitherto been no cure for Citrus Greening, the mapping of the genome of the new strain of the fungus will open up the possibility of evolving citrus cultivars resistant to the above pathogen. It may be recalled that the mapping of the genome of the deadly jute stem rot, Macrophomina phaseolina recently published in BMC Genomics by the researchers at the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute has paved the way to produce stem rot resistant while jute(Corchorus capsularis).
