GNOBB feel always happy at the news of training of their members or their participation in a workshop or lab course for the enhancement of their knowledge and experience. A well-known GNOBB member Dr. Zeba I Seraj has been invited to attend the Technical Training Workshop for Testing of Non-Target Organism of Transgenic Crops on 24-28 June 2013 at Ames, Iowa. The workshop is being jointly organized by the Center for Environmental Risk Assessment, Washington, and the Corn Insects and Crop Genetics Research Unit of the Agricultural Research Service, USDA and DuPont Pioneer. The purpose of the workshop is to provide regulatory scientists and environmental risk assessors with an experiential learning opportunity in laboratory and field testing of non-target organisms.
Dr. Seraj is also attending a Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory course in Frontiers & Techniques in Plant Science – June 28 – July 18, 2013. The topics to be covered in the above course range from bioinformatics tools (L), Epigenetics, Imaging and Plant Biology, QTL mapping, Math modeling, Mass spectroscopy, plant Volatiles, Population genetics, QTL mapping, RNA interference, sequence analysis, phylogenetics, TALENs (L) VIGS & potentially BIFC (L). GNOBB sincerely wishes that Dr. Seraj benefits from such a rigorous training program imparted by one of World’s best Mol. Biol. Lab. and that her newly acquired knowledge help her redesign and modernize the courses she teaches in Dhaka University.
