An International Conference on Environmental Risk Assessment of Genetically Engineered plants was held from April 15 -17, 2012 at the BRAC Centre Inn, Dhaka. The conference was organized by Bangladesh Academy of Science (BAS) and South Asia Biosafety Program (SABP) in cooperation with Bangladesh Department of Environment and the Pakistan Strategy Support Program. Scientists, researchers, risk assessors and regulators from home and abroad participated in the conference. Dr. Andrew Roberts, Deputy Director, center for environmental risk assessment (CERA) outlined the background of the conference. The inaugural ceremony was followed by two scientific sessions.
