For the very first time an outreach program has been arranged by Global Network of Bangladeshi Biotechnologists (GNOBB) in association with Bangladesh Association of Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology (BAPTC&B) to encourage the students regarding science specially biology. The program started with thoughtful and encouraging speeches of Professor Dr. Zeba Islam Seraj, President, GNOBB; Professor Dr. Muhammad Manjurul Karim, General Secretary, GNOBB; Professor Dr. Rakha H. Saker, Treasuruer, GNOBB and President, BAPTC&B; Professor Dr. Sheikh Shamimul Alam, General Secretary, BAPTC&B; Professor Dr, Mohammad Nurul Islam, Head, Outreach section, GNOBB and Joint Secretary, BAPTC&B; and Dr. Umme Salema Begum, Principal, Udayan Higher Secondary School. Demonstration program was run by Dr. Syeda Shermin Sultana, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, University of Dhaka; Mr. Tahsin Khan, Lecturer, Department of Botany, University of Dhaka; PhD scholar Ms. Sabrina Moriom Elias, Plant Biotechnology lab, University of Dhaka; and Ms. Farida Yasmin, Lecturer, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka. Visualization of plant chromosomes under microscope, visualization of bacteria under microscope and demonstration pigmented bacterial colonies and DNA isolation from onion using household detergent were included in the demonstration program. The demonstration session was very interactive. Students were so happy isolating DNA by themselves. GNOBB is hopeful to continue such program nationwide to sow the seed of science in young minds.
