Some members have suggested that I write a suitable poem
commemorating the great event of the holyEid–ul-Adha.
Below is a poem composed on the occasion.
May Allah reward you all. ASIslan
We celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Adha every year.
But do we follow the message of prophet Ibrahim?
“Sacrifice your dearest”, that was the directive in his dream.
“ To demonstrate his absolute allegiance to the creator.”
Ibrahim (SAW) realized that his dearest was his only son;
Through this sacrifice, Allah wanted to test his devotion.
If not by anything else, we can help our community,
by rendering humanitarian service to the best of our ability;
Giving sadka – a small portion of our wealth to help the needy;
But we forget our obligation to the poor without feeling guilty.
On this great occasion the majority of the rich boast,
claiming his sacrificial animal was bought at the highest cost;
Without remembering that show-off is against the religion.
We do not realize that Allah does not approve of such an action.
“It is neither the meat nor the blood of the sacrificial animal that reaches our Lord;
What reaches Him is our “niyat“; He wants us to be dedicated and fearful of Him
By following the glorious example of Prophet Ibrahim
And obey the commandments of the Most Merciful God.
By helping out our less fortunate fellow brethren in their misery
And standing by their side to alleviate their poverty.
The Muslim “Ummah” is on the threshold of a critical situation,
Unless we act now, we will soon lose in the worldwide competition;
And fail to keep alive as a powerful nation and turn it into a power;
A power that cannot be cowed down by any great pressure
Let us change our lifestyle by making the less fortunate smile,
And think positively about them for a while.
I offer my heartiest Eid Greetings to you all from the core of my heart
And pray realizing the importance of prophet Ibrahim’s great conduct.
Then and then only, the most Merciful Allah will relieve us of our suffering;
And give us an honorable place in the comity of nations imbued with His blessing.
