In a report, BP formerly known as (The British Petroleum) Criminal Case Generates Record Payout for Science and Restoration published on the 30th November, Science, David Malakoff, a well-known science writer apprises the readers that Petroleum giant BP (formerly known as British Petroleum) has at last agreed to pay a record sum of $4 billion to settle criminal charges on account of Deepwater Horizon oil spill a couple of years ago. Of this huge sum, more than half of it i.e . 2.5 billion is assigned for ecological restoration projects. The National Science Foundation will receive $350 to support regional research projects in the five U.S. states along the Gulf of Mexico for three decades in a row. GNOBB welcome such an extremely generous move that could ultimately provide more than $20 billion toward gulf restoration and science.
