GNOBB would like to congratulate Dr. Haseena Khan, Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology for being selected as one of the 12 distinguished personalities to be honored with the highest state award "Swadhinata Padak" (Independence Award) for the year 2019. She is one of the honorable founder members of GNOBB. Prof. Haseena Khan will receive the award for her contribution to research and training. She has been continuing her teaching and research career in biochemistry, Molecular biology, and genomics from the eighty’s. She has served as the chairman of the Department of Genetic engineering and Biotechnology as well as the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the University of Dhaka. Her contribution to the sequencing of Jute and Hilsha genome, two of our national pride is much commendable. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the awards on March 25. Each of the winners receives an 18-carat gold medal weighing 50 g a certificate and Tk 3,00,000. Bangladesh government has been presenting this highest civil award to commemorate Independence Day on Mar 26 since 1977. GNOBB wishes her all the best so that she continue producing the excellence and enriching the next generation.
