GNOBB has the pleasure of announcing that one of its most active members Ms. Sabrina M. Elias who looks after GNOBB website (GNOBB.org) has been selected for the Monsanto’s beachell-borlaug-international-scholars-program.aspx to do her Ph.D. It is under a joint fellowship program and the universities involved are DU, University of Nebraska at Lincoln and University of Texas at Austin. Ms Elias is already registered as a Ph.D. student at the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, DU under the supervision of Professor Zeba I. Seraj. It may be mentioned here that the fellowship is specifically meant to carry out research in wheat and rice breeding.
The news has delighted us because it signifies that DU staff members are equally capable of guiding Ph.D. along with their American counterpart. Indeed it’s a recognition for Bangladesh. GNOBB fervently hope that the concerned staff members can fully uphold the honor bestowed on them. Sabrina has also expressed her satisfaction as the fellowship will give her an opportunity to work on a research topic pertaining to Bangladesh benefiting the country.
