Again this is not strictly a biotechnology related posting. This is meant to keep the members informed that it is very heartening to know that the younger generation of our country is very conscious about our environment and they are working hard to create better Bangladesh. The posting is about the ‘Closing and Award Giving Ceremony of the Earth Champions Program (ECP) 2011 aimed at building better Bangladesh. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 10 to 12 noon at the Edward M. Kennedy Center located in Micro Industries Development Assistance Society (MIDAS) Center, Road 27, Dhanmondi. The Earth Champions Program is a signature yearlong environmental leadership program aimed at training and capacity building of high school students. So far 28 students have been trained to become Earth Champions which resulted in the formation of 25 environmental clubs in high school across Dhaka, Chittagong, and Khulna through their last ECP. The closing program will be attended by twenty-five Earth Champions Program Fellows from Dhaka, Chittagong, and Khulna. In addition fifty Executive Committee Members and Moderators from 25 Earth Clubs set up under ECP, and 30 members associated with BYEI (Bangladesh Youth Environmental 1) will attend the closing ceremony.
