“Future Plant Varieties through Molecular Breeding” – a seminar arranged by ACI

Dhaka, Nov. 8, ’13. Under the auspices of ACI Agribusiness a seminar titled, “Future Plant Varieties through Molecular Breeding” was held in  the Conference Room at the ACI Center 245, Tejgaon Industrial Area, Dhaka-1. It may be recalled that ACI Agribusiness is the leading agricultural integrator of the country and is significantly contributing to the National Food security through its different business units. ACI Agribusiness intends to produce better quality, and higher yield seeds that are more suited to the Bangladeshi climate through its research initiative – Advanced Seed Research and Biotech Center (ASRBC).
In ASRBC, dedicated scientists are working on molecular biotech research to give our country the best quality  seed.

To serve their mission fully, Advanced Seed Research and Biotech Center (ASRBC), organized a seminar on the 6th November, 2013.
Two world renowned Professors, namely, Dr. Olof Olsson at Lund University, Sweden and Dr. Henrik Aronsson at the Univ of Gothenburg, Sweden,  presented their mind-blogging papers  to the captivated audience. Among those present in the seminar was
Prof. Zeba I Seraj at the Department of Biochemistry and Mol. Biol., DU. The topic of Prof. Olof Olsson’s presentation was,  “Using advanced molecular and biochemical methods to enhance precision and speed of breeding”. The title of the other talk given by Dr. Henrik Aronsson  was:  “The Nobel Prize 2013 for vesicle transport – with focus on chloroplasts and medicine.”
