23rd October, 2013. In an article entitled, “Micropropagation of Stemona tuberosa Lour. — an endangered and rare medicinal plant in the Eastern Ghats of India,” Murthy, K. Sri and associates, affiliated with the Dept of Botany and Biotechnology, Montessori Mahila Kalasala, Vijaywada, India and the Dept of Botany, Srikrishnadevaraya Univ., Anantanagar, India, have described a successful method for regeneration of plantlets of an endangered wild medicinal plants species, namely, Stemona tuberose Lour in the Indian J Biotechnology. vol. 12(3) pp. 420-424. The authors found MS medium supplemented with 7.0 mg/L Kn to be the optimum for  axillary bud proliferation and multiple shoot induction. Furthermore,  they found that excised nodal segments culture from the in vitro shoots in the medium containing 7.0 mg/L Kn and 4.0 mg/L TDZ (thidiazuron) yielded a maximum number of shoots, i.e.,  7.10±0.37 shoots/node.
