Dhaka 5th April, ’14. The kicksarter campaign is an innovative idea of raising funds to publish a book. Here is an appeal by Land Institute research director to garner funding for publishing his book entitled, “Carbon Farming: A Global Toolkit for Stabilizing the Climate with Tree Crops and Regenerative Agriculture Practices.” Although it’s a long way to go to produce perennial corn, rice and wheat, etc. relentless efforts are under way to produce such ideal crops, namely, corn, wheat, or rice that wouldyield food grains like a perennial fruit tree without the need to prepare the land for sowing seed.. Such crops could have a tremendous impact on restoring degraded farmland, rebuilding soil, and sequestering carbon while providing food grain to sustain life.
In 2009 organized by the Land Institute research Institute, the First International Perennial Grain Breeding Workshop was held. A large number of researchers gathered there from all over the world to assess the potential of perennial food crops. The research Director of the Institute on an encouraging optimistic note remarked that “they would look back on this workshop as the international launching of the perennial grain revolution.”
