In the Dean election of Dhaka University held on the 12th of December, Professor Dr. M. Imdadul Hoque at the Department of Botany, has been elected the Dean of Biological Faculty of Biological Sciences,  for the next term defeating his rival, Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Bashar by a difference of 10 votes – a comfortable margin considering that it was a micro-election.

When the GNOBB coordinator inquired about Dr. Imdad’s plans for improvement of quality education during the tenure of his office, he said that he would try to simplify the  procedure of Ph.D. admission. Sometimes a student awarded a Ph.D. scholarship cannot avail of it because of his/her failure to get admission in the Ph.D. course in time.

He said he would also try to help financially any staff member if his/her research paper is accepted by a foreign journal on condition that he/she pays a processing fee.
