22nd September, ’13. GNOBB already published that Prof. Z. Seraj at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, DU has received a prestigious peer grant (Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research) to advance her research project, Validation of salt tolerance determinants in rice (Oryza sativa L. indica) landrace Horkuch and its segregating population by 2b-RAD sequencing and RNA-seq analysis under stress”, in collaboration with her US partner Dr. Thomas Juenger at the Department of MCDB at UT, Austin. Under that program three of Zeba’s Research Associates, namely, Ms. Sabrina Elias, Mr. Samsad Razzaque and Ms. Taslima will spend a period of 4-6 months at Dr. Juenger’s lab. Sabrina has been already there working in the lab of Dr. Juenger. The second scientist to visit that lab. is Samsad Razzaque who is leaving for Austin on the 25th September. Samsad will be there until 4th of February, 2014. The project title of the grant is “Validation of salt tolerance determinants in rice (Oryza sativa L. indica) landrace Horkuch and its segregating population by 2b-RAD sequencing and RNA-seq analysis under stress” .
