Co-organized by a) South Asia Biosafety Program; b) Biotech Consortium India Limited and c) Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, a three-day South East Asia Biosafety conference will be held 18-20 September, 2013 in New Delhi. A large contingent of Bangladeshi delegates including three, namely, Professor M. Imdadul Hoque, Prof. Rakha Hari Sarker and Prof. Zeba I Seraj from Dhaka University are expected to attend the forthcoming Biosafety Conference in Delhi.
The topics of the Plenary Sessions are as follows:
- Challenges to the Development and Regulation of Genetically Engineered Plants in South Asia;
- Regulation of Genetically Engineered Plants in the Context of Biodiversity, Phytosanitary and Food/Feed Safety Laws;
- Post-Approval Considerations for the Commercial Release of Genetically Engineered Plants;
- New Plant Breeding Techniques and Biosafety Risk Assessment.
The Plenary sessions will be followed by two workshops, one on:
- Understanding Test Protocols: Design, Reporting and Data Interpretation;
- The Scientist as a Public Communicator
