Dhaka the 20th Nov., ’13. The 11th International Symposium on Rice Functional Genomics takes place 20-23 November in New Delhi. The number of paper presentations is 62 in nine concurrent sessions, while the total number of posters in eight sections is 208. The concurrent sessions are: a) abiotic stress, b) architecture and development, c) comparative and evolutionary genomics, d) abiotic stress 2, e) small RNA and epigenomics, f) informatics and systems, g) biotic stress, and h) molecular breeding, i) translational genomics. The Plant Biotechnology lab at Dhaka University was represented by a graduate student, Ms Taslima Haque. She presented the poster No. PVIII-209 titled, “SpotTSS: A transcription start site predictor for plant promoters using structural features and core motifs,” authored by eight researchers of the Plant Biotechnology lab.
