GNOBB offer their heartiest congratulations and felicitations to Anowarul Amin, a former student of DMB, DU, now a Ph.D. student at the Department of Cell Physiology and Molecular Biophysics, Center for Membrane Protein Research, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock, Texas for being one of the six authors of a paper titled, Structure-based mechanism for Na+/melibiose symport by MelB published in the current issue of the online journal, Nature communications. The article describes the structure of Melibiose permease (MelB). It is a membrane protein – an ortholog of bacterial membrane protein Lactose permease (LacY). The authors claim that this is the first success in their 36 years of MelB research.
