GNOBB has been recognizing the achievements of Bangladeshi scientists by awarding them biennially in two categories. This will be the 5th event in this series.
Call for Nomination is open for GNOBB award-2025
Category 1
a) Outstanding Early to Mid-career Bangladeshi scientist working in Bangladesh (up to 10 years after completion of Ph.D. will be considered as Early to Mid-career scientists).
b) Outstanding Senior Bangladeshi scientist working in Bangladesh (above 10 years after completion of Ph.D., independent PI, and below 60 years will be considered as senior scientists).
Category 2
a) Outstanding Early to Mid-career Non-resident Bangladeshi scientist (up to 10 years after completion of Ph.D. will be considered as Early to Mid-career scientists).
b) Outstanding Senior Non-resident Bangladeshi scientists (above 10 years after completion of Ph.D., independent PI, and below 60 years will be considered as Early to senior scientists).
SELECTION PROCESS
1. Potential awardees must have to be nominated by a GNOBB member using the official nomination form, which can be found here GNOBB AWARD NOMINATION FORM
2. The member can nominate any scientists of Bangladeshi origin. The candidate scientist does not necessarily need to be a GNOBB member, but encouraged to be a life member of GNOBB in future.
3. Each GNOBB member can nominate only one scientist in each category.
4. The nominators should take verbal/written consent of the candidates before nomination.
5. The nominators must ensure that the nominated candidates have a scholar profile in Google Scholar (If the candidate does not have one, the nominator should arrange it in consultation with the potential candidate). The profile URL must be mentioned in the nomination form. Nominee and Nominator both must assure that the google scholar profile is authentic and devoid of any unrelated list of publications. The committee will check and if any discrepancy is found, the nomination will be considered void.
6. The nominators must write a short statement in support of his nomination.
7. The nominator also has to provide information on the completion of the Ph.D. year and institute, total number of publications, number of publications as first/corresponding author, second author, and third author as well as a list of the best 10 publications. All information can be put in the designated nomination form.
8. Nomination forms must be submitted within the deadline of submission (June 25, 2025) and should be sent to the GNOBB administration through email (award@gnobb.org and gnobb.org@gmail.com ).
9. After the deadline of submission, a jury board, composed of Bangladeshi/NRB scientists from all over the world, will vet the nominations. At this stage, the jury will use the following criteria to assess the candidates:
a) Publication- maximum 40 points (10 best original papers selected by the applicants will be scored)
- 1st and corresponding authorship: 40 points
- 2nd authorship: 20 points
• 3rd authorship: 10 points
• Authorship points will be multiplied by the Impact factor (Impact factor less publication is multiplied by 1 and with impact factor publication is multiplied by 1+ respective impact factor).
b) Expert opinion about the impact of the research- maximum 10 points
c) IP and patent- maximum 20 points
Provisional patent- 5 points
National patent granted- 10 points
International patent granted- 20 points
d) Grant acquisition and industry collaborations- maximum 10 points
e) Applicant’s research relevance to socio-economic development of Bangladesh- maximum 10 points
f) Research management and capacity development of applicants- maximum 10 points
The adjudicators will select two candidates in each category based on their research performance and other contributions to society and forward their recommendations to the Chief Adjudicator of the jury board. If two candidates’ scholar profiles look very similar, the adjudicators will have the freedom to choose one over another but need to provide a detailed explanation in support of his/her recommended candidate
• The chief adjudicator will screen the recommendations and select the final awardees. He/She will notify the results to other members of the board to take the board’s approval.
• The awardees will be officially notified and invited by GNOBB President to receive the prize by the July 20, 2025.
• The awardees must commit to delivering award lectures at the 2025 GNOBB conference, which will be held on September 26-27, 2025. GNOBB will provide local hospitality (if necessary) but will not cover travel costs.
• Previous awardees will not be eligible for nominations.
• Because of the conflict of interest, the nominator cannot serve on the jury board.
